Eastern Express Morane N

This is the Eastern Express Morane N in Russian markings. This build was the subject of an Internet Modeler article. I remember building this same kit as a young child and rigging it with cotton, the first kit I rigged. I also like the Morane's for their diamond shaped rigging structure, very attractive.

Eastern Express N11

This is the Eastern Express N11 with Warbirds Belgian decals. The engine was done with a wash of chalk in future, learnt from the Emhar build. I forgot to decal the top underwing, and as a build choice I didnt rig the tail at all. The red across the elevators tails was a personal choice, the Nieuport Fighters Datafile Special shows a dark elevators, it is most likely strong shadow, but I chose to depict it as the colour red. I was happy with how this kit came out, clean build and attractive scheme.

Emhar Mk.IV

This 1/72 Emhar MkIV was a fun build! There are some seams and I couldnt get the tracks to sit in a couple of places, but that was overshadowed by the fun I had weathering it with pastels, and dry brushing over the details. There wasnt much to challenge the build process, it is pretty much as it looks, about 10 box parts which go together quite quickly. I also was looking for the wheels for the tracks to rest on. Tanks have wheels right? Not on this kit! I did it in grey as I read carefully the 1/35 build of Richard Eatons and the 1/72 female build of Matt Bittners on Internet Modeler, they did theirs green and brown respectively. Euro Grey was the base colour chosen in an attempt to simulate dirty battleship grey.

I am very happy with this model and had a tonne of fun doing it.

Fokker Dr.I

This is the Eduard Profipack Dr.I, which went together very easily. IMO Eduard make wonderful kits, that are fun to build. This is in Richthofens scheme, I used a Chrysler engine red, I though it would be an orangey red like the 202 donk that was in my old Holden, but it came out a rich red. No problems will probably do another DrI in the same markings from another Eduard kit sometime later.

The Fokker EV.

The Eduard Fokker EV kit made my skills look really good, the kit fitted together really well, and what seams there were, were filled by the thick yellow enamel I used or covered by the black chequered decal. Ironically the difficult part was attaching the top wing. After making the struts from a mixture of Brass and Styrene rod, I ended up attaching the tripod pilons to the fuselage first with CA and then as the joint was stiffening adding the rear struts and then putting support under the wing. The brass held the wing remarkably well, so much so that it survived a direct hit from a half full coke bottle. The undercarraige wasnt so lucky though, these pictures show the repaired undercarriage. The photos make the wheels look like they are toed in, they arent in true perspective.

This model got hit again much later, this time with a cat toy. It got rebuilt again and is on display, it has certainly been in the wars.
